The Health & Lifestyle Muse - Return to the sun

Return to the sun

In tiny and the muse we gather beautiful mama muses who pursue their ventures intuitively with a vision of creating a better world. This time, we spoke with muse Eva, a mother of two and the face behind Return To The Sun. Discover how motherhood and microdosing intertwine in Eva's lifestyle. Learn about health, wellness, and balancing entrepreneurship with family.

Eva sees life as a vast learning experience, humbly considering herself a student. She views it as an invitation to truly remember her essence and then experience it in her being—a poetic description of what it means to be human and a woman, in our opinion. As a mother of two lively boys, she initially focused on motherhood in the early years but always in conjunction with her passions for photography and childbirth. What an incredible combination to find a doula who is also a photographer! Eva also conducts breathing sessions, beneficial both in her doula work and in her microdose ceremonies with Return To The Sun. All her diverse activities seem to reinforce each other, completing the circle.

How did your business come about?

I came into contact with Psilocybin microdosing eight years ago, and it brought me so much that I wanted to share it with the world. Along the way, I discovered that all the answers and power lie within oneself, but often, our attention is outward, leading us to seek outside ourselves.

Truffles are a beautiful and accessible tool that can open the door to your inner world, and I wish this for everyone.

Microdose

I want to contribute to the normalization of natural substances like truffles, which can greatly aid in our personal development without adverse effects.

It's unfortunate that truffles are sometimes still labeled as 'drugs,' and I find it fascinating how people often unconsciously resort to medical medications, which often only suppress symptoms.

However, I wanted to present it in a different 'package' than what was already available in smart shops. It needed to have a softer and more approachable appearance for a broader audience. The current (stressful) lifestyle of this modern age has always intrigued me, and I wanted to contribute by adding products to my shop that aid in detoxifying toxic substances, are rich in minerals & vitamins, reduce stress, and bring balance to the system.

How has motherhood affected your business, and how do you balance the two?

Motherhood has made me realize even more why I want to be an entrepreneur, where I can manage my own time and spend the most time with my kids and family. This is the most important thing for me. When I first started building my business, which required a lot of time, love, and energy, I sometimes found it challenging to find balance and felt guilty when I was 'too' focused on my business. But ultimately, I also find it important that my children understand that if you want to pursue something, you need dedication and sometimes have to choose yourself. By following my own dreams and fulfilling my needs, I can be a happier mom for my kids. I have found more balance now, also because both my kids are in school—mornings are for my business and myself, and afternoons and weekends are for my kids and family.

How does your microdose ritual look like?

I don't follow a specific schedule, but I take a microdose when I feel the need, usually on the morning itself. (As a beginner, I would recommend following a schedule for a certain period to discover how the truffles work for you; this may take a few weeks.) It can be 1-2 times per week for an extended period, sometimes once a month, and occasionally not at all for weeks.

I always take it in the morning after breakfast, state my intention, and express gratitude to the truffles. Setting an intention can provide direction and strength, but I only do it when I feel clear.

Sometimes, I let it be and simply open myself to the truffles. If there's resistance during the onset, I try to sit calmly and become aware of my breath.

What questions do you get most within your work?

I receive the most questions about microdosing, especially regarding its combination with breastfeeding or antidepressants.

Regarding breastfeeding, there is not enough research to determine the effects on breastfeeding babies.

However, if you look at ancient traditions with these substances, it's common for pregnant or breastfeeding women to use them. I did it myself when I was breastfeeding, but I think it's mostly a matter of following your own feelings and intuition. Just do what feels right for you.

For antidepressants, there is a known list on the internet of those with no known side effects in combination with microdosing: Bupropion (Wellbutrin), Citalopram (Celexa), Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq), Doxepine (Sinequan), Duloxetine (Cymbalta), Escitalopram (Lexapro), Paroxetine (Paxil), Sertraline (Zoloft), Venlafaxine (Effexor). However, it can naturally influence each other's effects, and you may not get the optimal benefits. It is always advisable to discuss this with your doctor.

In our own research within The Tiny Muse, we have searched online for examples of someone who have used microdose to taper off antidepressants, and a notable example is Selah Sue (Belgian singer, who has used antidepressants since she was 16) and successfully tapered off with the help of microdosing truffles.

Eva, what tip would you give your younger self with all the knowledge you have now?

I would say, don't be so hard on yourself and enjoy things more as they are. Sometimes, I could take certain things quite seriously and would cling to an idea of how something 'should' be. I think I can let go of that more and accept the ups and downs of life.
